When stripped down to the basics a hidden camera is simply a small board camera carefully built into an everyday item like a clock, radio, toy or almost anything you can think of that easily blends into the home or office environment.
Security cameras have different lens types with distinct advantages and uses. Here are some short definitions plus some pros and cons to each type:
Surveillance equipment used to only be available to the government or private investigators with big budgets. Now low cost hidden spy cameras are commonly used to check on housekeepers, babysitters and employees. The average person can now use inexpensive security cameras to monitor their homes, their business, catch thieves, detect child abuse, and infidelity.
Everyone needs security. Yet with our era of computer passwords, magnetic keys, security cameras, laser beams and security guards do you need a simple door alarm? Really, if an intruder wanted to get to a special area or access an off limits room, he would have to get through a series of protection measures. How can door alarms contend with a thief capable of doing that?
Security cameras have different specifications that optimize them for specific purposes, environments, or requirements. Here are some essential definitions you'll find in the product descriptions of our security camera products:
Wireless transmitter/receivers let you upgrade just about any security camera into a wireless surveillance device! If you have chosen a camera type that meets your specific surveillance needs such as night vision, infra-red vision, fast shutter speed etc. you can convert them to a wireless camera by simply plugging your camera into a wireless transmitter and your video monitor, DVR, or TV into the matching receiver... Its really that easy.
Wireless transmission lets you easily achieve a much greater range than wired security camera systems (unless you string an awful lot of wire). The average range of a wireless transmitter receiver will vary from 200ft. to 700ft. depending on environmental conditions such as thick walls, or electrical activity. This is a much larger range than the average wired system which is about 100-200 ft.
